How many of our students can benefit from this amazing resource?
We are currently looking to work with about 50 students from each elementary school right now. Should we receive additional resources, we will notify our partners of our new situation.
What type of students are you interested in working with?
Since our app is concerned with early intervention, we are looking to work with TK, K, or 1st grade students from a school (district) that is representative of California’s demographic distribution (socioeconomic status, gender, race, etc.).
Does our school need to use DIBELS or other measures to participate?
No, your school does not need to use DIBELS, as we will provide our own measures for assessment.
Is there a cost for the AppRISE program?
Absolutely not! We are offering this program for free to all students!

Do we need any resources (i.e. teacher or staff member) to administer the tests?
No, Precision Learning Center will provide everything! A trained professional will come in with the assessments and work with the students around the children’s schedules.
How long is each session with every student?
Our current test setup takes about 4 hours per student (1.5 hours for the app, 2.5 hours for the traditional assessment). We can definitely divide that time into sizable chunks for the students depending on their class schedules and attention needs.
What if our students are English language learners?
¡No se preocupe! We currently have the capacity to administer the paper/pencil established assessments in Spanish, and our tablet assessment uses no language-based instructions to ensure applicability to large populations.
Besides assessments, what other information are you collecting from each student?
Since our study aims to make a direct link between literacy/cognitive capabilities, academic performance, and health outcomes, we would like to collect some student records. If students/families are willing to support us in our development even further, we invite them to opt into donating additional health outcome measures such as hair, saliva, and tooth samples to our hair-saliva-tooth fairy! Although this is completely optional, it would serve us greatly to have a more complete picture of each student.
What does our school get out of this partnership?
We will provide free literacy and cognitive assessment using both our tablet app and other established paper/pen methods (DIBELS, Woodcock Johnson, etc.). Although we cannot disclose individual student data without familial consent, we can certainly share aggregate results and trends with the school. We can also provide access to an early intervention used by all Icelandic children to learn to read (Graphogame). As one of the first to have access to the app, your comments and feedback on the app will also be prioritized and incorporated into future versions, ensuring your school’s voice is being heard!

What does the timeline look like for Fall 2017?
1) First, we will schedule a preliminary phone call to answer any questions your school (district) may have about the partnership.
2) Next, we will complete any necessary IRB or district paperwork to move forward. 3) If you are interested, we can also provide an information session to parents and school staff so that everyone understands what the app will be measuring. 4) After families complete and sign our consent forms, we will come in with our trained assessors to work with students according to the students' schedules. 5) We can offer a free feedback report to families and the school about 1-2 months after testing, as well as access to other proven learning techniques. This sounds great! How can my school (district) get involved?
We're glad you are as excited as we are about this revolutionary screening app! Please fill out our contact form and we will get back to you within 1-2 business days about next steps towards a school partnership. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
